Pop-Up Vignettes Part 3

For my final round up of trends for 2012 we can see just how diverse the range of popular furniture and accessories are. I’m loving the bright punch of “Orange Crush” as well as the ease of “West Coast Rustic Glamour”. For my final trend, “Well Travelled Eclectic” I was inspired by my own life… I love to travel and fill my home with eclectic finds from around the world….

“Orange Crush”

Bright, juicy and fun orange is the standout colour for 2012. Surprisingly neutral, orange looks right at home in a kitchen, living room, and dining room, even in a child’s bedroom. Orange, when mixed with Scandinavian-style furniture and accessories takes a slightly mid-century modern feel that has a distinct yet timeless feel.

Shabby-Chic is back in a big way and it’s brought the beach with it. This look has a slightly Parisian-feel (with splashes of gold and with all the intricate carving details seen in furniture and accessories) however the worn feel of West Coast Rustic Glamour is very distinctly Californian and beachy. The look has a faded by the winds of the ocean feel and features a colour palette of weathered whites, sand and sea-glass blue.

Pulling from a number of design eras (from the 1930’2 onward), well-travelled eclectic is a look that requires a knowledgeable curator. Putting together this look requires an eye for quality, understanding of the collectable (and how to transform it’s use to be functional) and a respect for mixing patterns from a myriad of eras.
