A monogram, according to wikipedia is “a motif made by overlapping or combining two or more letters or other graphemes to form one symbol.”… to me, monograms are a chic and stylish way to add a little personalization to your life whether it be in home décor or fashion. Monograms have been around since 350 BC, first appearing on coins. Today, monograms are popping up in everything from necklaces and handbags to pillows, headboards and even wedding cake toppers. So when is a good time to monogram? Monogramming always makes a great gift, so if a friend has just moved into a new place consider getting them monogrammed napkins, towels, bed linens or even a throw pillow. Attending a graduation? Consider a monogrammed stationary set, necklace or pen. That said monogramming isn’t just for gifts. I was at a friend’s very chic cottage recently and she had all of her beach towels monogrammed as well as the umbrellas on her huge patio. It gave her space a “beach club” feel and looked very classy. Start by monogramming the room or space you love the most (indoors or out), you can even try using a monogram kit from a craft store to DIY your own creation… see if you like it and slowly introduce this trend throughout your home.

I’ve pulled a few images of stylish monograms to help get your creative juices going. Enjoy!
